Les Courtilles Cotes du Rhone 2009; (Cotes du Rhone, France) $18.99; 14%; 4/5; 2009 was a cracking year in the Rhone Valley, and this blend of grenache, shiraz and mouvedre is cracking value. This has perfumed aromas of cherries, raspberries and blackberries, with notes of mineral and earth giving it some complexity. There’s a good intensity of flavour that you don’t always see in entry-level Cotes du Rhone with plum, sour cherry, raspberry, spice and dried herbs.
