Les Lions de Suduiraut Sauternes 2009 375ml

At its best, Suduiraut turns out rich, luscious wines that in blind tastings can be confused with Yquem" Robert Parker
Abutting the vineyards of Yquem to the north, the large beautiful estate of Suduiraut produces one of the great wines of Sauternes. The 1990, 1989, 1988, 1982, 1976, 1967 and 1959 are staggering examples of Suduiraut’s potential. At its best, Suduiraut turns out rich, luscious wines that in blind tastings can be confused with Yquem." Robert Parker

"This is normally the most liquorous and intensely rich wine after Yquem, and when at its best. Is also one of the best Sauternes. The best Suduirauts are pale gold in colour, the bouquet is exquisitely perfumed and penetrating, and the flavour rich and vigorous, distinctive, honeyed, with great finesse and breed." David Peppercorn, Master of Wine

Reviews for the 2009 Vintage
« … a wine that is still lusciously sweet from noble rot, but which thanks to selection ofparcels of grapes from certain terroirs, has a crispier, livlier personality…it is absolutely delicious: it has weight and viscous texture, real sweetness but a lightness and finesse that finishes with dazzling agility. Tom Cannavan – Nov. 11, 2011

AXA Millésimes' Ch Suduiraut has been producing reliably exciting and superior Sauternes for many years now, and has been supplying British retailers with some fine bargains with the offcuts. This is the new, official diffusion line, and very delicious it already is too. Great value. 13.5% jancisrobinson Top 25+ strong and/or sweet

A brand new, fruity, light offering from the revered Château Suduiraut, this works well with soft blue cheeses and smooth pâtés, or as a cool aperitif. Peaches, honey and lemon drops, with a fresh finish. Susy Atkins UK Telegraph

The brilliant robe and light golden yellow hue appeal to the eye immediately! The intense bouquet rolls out honey, crystallised fruit (pineapple) and then pear. A range of more floral scents bring a fresher touch, plus hints of mint and verbena. On the palate, the wine reveals the same combination of ripeness and a fresher edge. Botrytis has left its mark in the wine’s crystallised hints and elegant fruitiness (yellow peach). The clean, fresh finish boasts bitter orange flavours. Tasting note from the Chateau.
