Clare Valley Shiraz is always generously constructed and this is no exception. Impenetrable colour and a concentrated nose, reminiscent of stewed berries and plums, spices and meaty notes, introduces a deeply flavoured, rich red wine full of flavour, good body and balanced tannins Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age, July 2011
Tasted alongside the 08 Leasingham Bin 61 Shiraz and the thought that they represented the sunrise (and rise) and sunset of two great Clare Valley players popped into my head. Nutty oak vanilla oak of the good American kind that Tim Adams uses to such good effect – there’s a touch of mint too and ripe blackberry fruit. It’s smooth and silky but with positive controlling tannins, perhaps a touch of warmth, and good extension through the finish. Some tobacco flavours provide savoury interest. Good drinking. Grows in the glass too. Rated : 92 Points, Tasted : May11 Alcohol : 14.5% Price : $19 Closure : Screwcap Drink : 2011 – 2018. Gary Walsh, www.winefront.com.au
