Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

"Balanced and sophisticated" Gary Walsh.
"...Blackcurrant/blackberry, blonde tobacco, cedar and vanilla oak – some regional eucalypt perfume. It’s medium weight with a mix of red and black fruits, tobacco and earthy flavours, and mildly grippy and sappy, but shapely tannin. Length of flavour delivered handsomely. Balanced and sophisticated. True Cabernet style. Rated : 92 Points Tasted : Apr12 Alcohol : 14.5% Price : $27 Closure : Screwcap Drink : 2014 - 2020+ Gary Walsh.   www.winefront.com.au

"The 2010 cabernet sauvignon is dense and brooding. It shows cabernet’s darker side, filled with cedary savour and rich, ripe forest berries, cassis and blueberry. Its got plenty of latent power behind its fine grainy tannins. This one is a keeper, although like all great wines, it's still beautifully balanced in its youth. Drink it with roast lamb and rosemary." Canberra Times, Saturday 5th May 2012

A significant Frankland River operation, situated on a large sheep property owned by Barrie Smith and Judi Cullam. The vineyard has been established progressively since 1988; the recent introduction of an array of single-vineyard Rieslings has been a highlight. The venture into the single-vineyard wines is driven by Judi's conviction that terroir is of utmost importance, and the soils are indeed different. The climate is not, and the difference between the wines is not as clear-cut as theory might suggest. The Isolation Ridge Vineyard is now organically grown. Frankland Estate has held several important International Riesling tastings and seminars over recent years. Exports to all major markets. James Halliday.
