About this Wine
The fruit for this wine was derived from cuttings of grandfather’s original family vineyard [Boccalupo] in Tuscany. This is an Autochthonous variety specific to the Stefani family. Fruit is entirely grown and hand-picked on the family estate vineyard in the Yarra Valley, Victoria.
"A super-bright red hue entices. Lovely florals and cherry scents with juniper and menthol plus wild herbs. There's certainly an Italian stamp to this. Loads of refreshing acidity keep the medium-bodied palate lively and its slight tannins in line." Jane Faulkner. Halliday Wine Companion
About the Winery
Stefano Stefani's first vineyard was established on the Healesville family farm in 1998 and was planted to Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The next was in Heathcote, where they acquired a property adjoining that of Mario Marson (ex Mount Mary), built a winery and established 14.4ha of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. In 2003 a second Yarra Valley property, named The View, reflecting its high altitude, was acquired and Dijon clones of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were planted.
