More Information

Lightfoot & Sons Myrtle Point Vineyard is located in East Gippsland, Victoria, within view of the Gippsland Lakes. The vineyard site, situated between the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and Bass Strait, was selected when soil mapping of the region identified tracts of the much celebrated Terra Rosa over Limestone soil structure.

The 29Ha vineyard was planted between 1995-1997 by the Lightfoot family on their farm ‘Myrtle Point’. Pinot Noir plantings make up almost half, with smaller bocks of Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet.

The wines are made by Alastair Butt and Tom Lightfoot. Alastair brings more than 25 years of winemaking experience to the winery, working previously in the Yarra Valley and Hunter Valley.   After completing a Viticultural Science and Wine Production degree, Tom has worked a number of vintages in wineries throughout Australia and the Northern Hemisphere.  Tom now manages the Myrtle Point Vineyard and assists Alastair in winemaking.

    Found it!

I’ve been looking for an “everyday” Pinot noir that has length and depth, and that is good value [>$30]. This Pinot fits the bill - not just a strawberry or cherry fruit bomb, but a wine with fine but detectable tannin and good length of pate, showing some spice and forest floor characters. I’ve tasted a Yarra Valley and a Tassie option, but this wine wins hands down.
